NGO DIRECTORATE

The NGO Directorate is responsible in aligning the NGO activities to national priorities and ensuring effective service delivery. The Unit registers and certifies NGOs. This is necessary to get NGOs submit their annual reports on programs implemented and gives government the opportunity to determine the performing NGOs and weed out non performing ones. We develop a data base by sector and regions of all registered NGOs and organize quarterly meetings of inter-Agency and Sectoral Standing Committees to review activities of NGOs and discuss plans for future programs.

The Unit tracks and compiles donor funds for project implementation and organizes annual workshop for NGO desk officers in sector ministries and ensures all NGO programs are monitored and evaluated in Sierra Leone. The Unit also ensures the full participation of the beneficiary community and good communication with sectoral ministry in all program formulation and implementation
