The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Directorate of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED) has commenced the presentation of the 2024 Progress Report on the Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP) to key Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). The first session was held on Tuesday, 18 March 2025, at the Ministry of Finance (MoF).
The purpose of these engagements is to update MDAs on the progress of the MTNDP’s implementation as of the end of 2024, strategize on achieving key results, and enhance data collection, reporting, and availability. Additionally, the initiative seeks to strengthen collaboration between MDAs and MoPED’s M&E team for improved future engagements.
In his opening remarks, the Principal Deputy Financial Secretary, Mr. Samuel E.B. Momoh, welcomed the MoPED team, emphasizing that the Ministry of Finance has always been a home for MoPED. He expressed his delight at this strategic engagement, acknowledging its importance in strengthening government-wide monitoring and evaluation efforts.
Alimamy Bangura, Chief Economist in the Ministry of Finance also commended the M&E team for their work. He noted that initial data submissions from his staff had contained discrepancies due to a recent rebasing exercise, which resulted in changes to previously reported figures. He assured MoPED of his full support and personally pledged to collaborate closely with the Research Directorate at the Ministry of Finance to ensure accurate reporting in the future.
In response, Mr. Daniel Banya Braima, Acting Director-M&E, accompanied by Mr. Fenty Bangura, Assistant Director, expressed appreciation for the Chief Economist’s commitment to addressing data inconsistencies across MDAs.
Meanwhile, Mr. Abu Komeh, Acting Director of the Research Directorate at Finance sought clarification on aspects of the proposed 2025 reporting template presented by the MoPED team.
Other members of the MoPED M&E team present at the meeting included Mrs. Isatu Konneh, Mrs. Ophilia, Mr. Saspo, Mr. Ibrahim Jalloh, Mr. Abdulai Jalloh, and Mr. Edward Kanu.
Following this session, the MoPED team continued similar engagements with the Consumer Protection Commission and the Peace Commission to ensure alignment in reporting and data management across government institutions.
