Acting Rural Development Director Highlights Successes of Accountable Governance Project on AYV’s “Wake Up Salone”
Freetown, Sierra Leone 21, August, 2024:- In an engaging discussion on AYV’s popular morning show, “Wake Up Salone,” Madam Mbalu Kamara, Acting Director of Rural Development within the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED), shared insightful updates on the transformative impact of the Accountable Governance for Basic Service Delivery Project on rural communities.
The conversation revolved around the critical role of the Directorate of Rural Development, as Madam Kamara explained the Directorate’s mandate within MoPED. She emphasized that the Directorate is tasked with ensuring the effective planning, coordination, and implementation of rural development activities across Sierra Leone, particularly in collaboration with Local Councils.
Madam Kamara highlighted how the Accountable Governance for Basic Service Delivery Project has significantly bolstered the Directorate’s capacity. She noted that the project’s support has been instrumental in strengthening Local Councils, allowing them to better fulfill their development mandates.
