The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development is the government Ministry that is responsible for the formulation and implementation of the country’s economic development policies. It plays a crucial role in guiding the nation’s economic growth, poverty reduction, and sustainable development.
Key Functions of Ministry include:
Economic planning: It develops and implements comprehensive economic plans, including national development and investment programs.
Policy formulation: The ministry formulates policies related to economic development, investment, trade, and other key sectors.
Economic analysis: MOPED also conducts research and analysis on economic trends, performance indicators, and development challenges.
Project management: The ministry oversees the implementation of development projects, ensuring that they align with the government’s Big Five Game Changer.
International cooperation: It coordinates the country’s economic relations with international organizations, development partners, and other countries.
Data management: The ministry collects, analyzes, and disseminates economic data to inform policy decisions and monitor progress.
