Sierra Leone’s Minister Barlay, Chair of g7+, Addresses Extraordinary Board Meeting Hosted by the Foundation for Post-Conflict Development in the Presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II in NewYork

Permanent Mission of Monaco to the UN September 23, 2024

In a significant gathering held at the Permanent Mission of Monaco to the United Nations, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II, esteemed dignitaries, and distinguished guests were addressed by Sierra Leone’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, H. E. Madam Kenyeh Barlay, who also serves as the Chair of the g7+ group.

Minister Barlay began by extending deep gratitude, on behalf of the g7+, to the Foundation for Post-Conflict Development (FPCD) for its invaluable partnership, particularly under the patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II. “It is a privilege to convey warm greetings from Sierra Leone, the chairing country of the g7+, as we celebrate the strengthening of our partnership following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the g7+ and the FPCD,” the Minister remarked.

The Minister expressed optimism regarding the tangible outcomes of this evolving collaboration, noting that the joint efforts between the g7+ and the FPCD aim to foster peace and stability in conflict-affected nations.

Addressing Prince Albert directly, the Minister stated, “Your Serene Highness, as the world contends with mounting crises, exacerbated by geopolitical fragmentation and climate change, countries that have already endured decades of conflict are at a heightened risk of further instability. This threatens to plunge them deeper into extreme poverty and humanitarian crises.”

Madam emphasized the importance of moral, political, and financial support from international bodies like the FPCD, noting that such contributions are critical to alleviating these challenges. “In this spirit of solidarity, the support under your patronage is invaluable and serves as a model for other global partners to follow.”

In closing, the Minister reaffirmed the g7+’s commitment to advancing this partnership and expressed enthusiasm for the future collaborative activities planned between the two entities. “On behalf of the g7+, I assure the FPCD and Your Serene Highness of our unwavering dedication to this shared mission of peace and development.”
