Outgoing German Ambassador Bids Farewell to Minister of Planning and Economic Development

The Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Madam Kenyeh Barlay, has received the outgoing German Ambassador to Sierra Leone, His Excellency Jens Kraus-Masse, during a farewell courtesy visit at her office at the National Authorising Office (NAO), Tower Hill, Freetown. Ambassador Kraus-Masse used the occasion to express appreciation for the longstanding and fruitful bilateral relations between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Sierra Leone. He commended the Ministry’s leadership and coordination in driving national development efforts, particularly the implementation of the Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP) 2024–2030. He reaffirmed Germany’s continued commitment to supporting Sierra Leone’s development aspirations, emphasizing areas such as private sector development, economic governance, and institutional strengthening. Ambassador Kraus-Masse also encouraged the Ministry to sustain its current momentum, which he described as a strong benchmark for strategic coordination in development planning. In response, Minister Barlay warmly acknowledged the Ambassador’s role in deepening German-Sierra Leone cooperation throughout his tenure. She highlighted his active engagement in the Development Partners Committee (DEPAC), support to private sector investment initiatives, and contributions across other critical development sectors. Minister Barlay extended her best wishes to Ambassador Kraus-Masse as he embarks on his next diplomatic assignment.
